The Indigo Difference
Modernizing Ancient Technology
Water filtration of one kind or another has existed for thousands of years. In the modern era water is centrally treated at a city or county plant and then delivered to homes via a water tower or other central system.
The treatment which the water undergoes includes the elimination of bacteria and the filtration of a certain percentage of harmful toxins from the water. The standards to which the water must be treated are set by the EPA, or the Environmental Protection Agency.
While some cities and counties have systems which exceed those standards most don’t and are merely meeting them.
So what’s the problem?
Many People Want More
The EPA is focused on removing bacteria and protecting the pipes.
Indigo is focused on removing toxins – and being ahead of the curve on how we do it. This is why medical grade water can be achieved with our systems.
Water has two common chemicals which are added to it during the process of treatment, Chlorine and Fluoride. The purpose of the Chlorine is to kill bacteria. The water will travel great distances and sit in pipes outside your home for hours or days at a time. This chlorine is needed to provide safe water to the city or county so that bacteria stays under control.
Other toxins found in water are not added to it by the water treatment plant, but instead are found in the water even after it leaves the plant. This can include pesticides, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, VOCs, PFAs and of course, the chlorine.
This means we drink in and bathe in water that contains trace amounts of toxins that we’d rather not deal with. In most parts of Pinellas County, Florida for example we can smell the Chlorine in the water when we run the tap. While it is “safe” by EPA standards we can tell you that every customer we have instantly notices the taste and smell difference in their water (just see our reviews.)
Taste the Indigo Difference
While a Reverse Osmosis system under the sink does wonders for removing chlorine from what we will drink – we still bathe or shower in it, or in the case of a commercial building, still need the water to be even better.
Our goal at Indigo Water Systems is to raise the level of purification during those last feet of delivery to the building. Remove the Chlorine before it enters the building – and reduce toxins, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, PFAs and VOCs to well below EPA standards.
The news is full of information concerning PFAs and VOCs and even here in Tampa Bay studies are under way concerning this topic and the establishment of a new threshold of what’s allowed for those “forever chemicals” by the EPA or even local regulations.
The Indigo allows us to get the immediate benefit of not inhaling VOCs in the shower, not smelling or drinking chlorine in our water, reducing heavy metals and other harmful toxins, and essentially having water that exceeds most bottled water quality standards you can find.
Trusted by Doctors
By taking this approach our customers report fresh smelling and tasting water. They also report to us feeling more energized – an interesting and consistent feedback point on our surveys. Our thoughts? The reduction of toxins entering the body means the body spends less energy removing toxins via the kidneys and thus we feel more energized. While this may not be typical for everyone, and some may simply experience better tasting water, it’s worth noting as a common reported outcome.
Those with children, those who are elderly and those who have pre-existing medical conditions will especially appreciate a level of toxin exposure that is so greatly reduced.
Medical offices and nutritionists recommend our system to their patients experiencing severe or atypical sensitivities to toxins, or adverse reactions to chemicals. This is for one simple reason: our system works, and it provides Scientifically Better water.
How does it work?
Our primary filtration system is designed to function without electricity, using gravity and pressure. Our filtration occurs upwards, working against gravity. This method ensures channeling doesn’t occur by keeping the carbon beds from settling and channeling.
Inside the Indigo line of filtration tanks are three grades of carbon media. Each grade and size handles the filtration of a different toxin. Quality and quantity of the filtration media is key. Lack of quality, or lack of quantity, is the primary reason for a system that fails to remove more than solely Chlorine, or fails to achieve the desired results.
Our system also contains a proprietary organic sterilization system which prevents the tank from going dead (the slang term in the industry.) Stopping organic growth inside the tank is important and our engineer has developed a way to accomplish this which is included in every system we have.
We hope you’ll have us out to your property to meet you and answer any questions you might have. We’d love to get you a quote and add you to the growing list of customers who have an Indigo and love it.
